Winter is here and that means Stone Beer!
To celebrate the annual release we’re tapping some of our beers (including a barrel aged version of last years vintage), pairing them in some super tasty boilemakers and will have Byron Bay’s very own Ben Whiting playing live all arvo.
Our 2018 vintage takes the form of a 7.5% Wood Fired Porter. The beer honours the ancient techniques of brewing. By adding wood fired stones to the kettle to rouse the boil, the malt characters are intensified, which contributes to the beer’s roasted caramel aroma that’s balanced with a warming, full bodied cocoa flavour… perfect for a cold winter’s night!
Not only will we be tapping the Stone Beer 2018 Vintage Release, but also an extremely rare keg of the Barrel Aged Stone Beer.
In May 2017, our brewers squirreled some of the 2017 Stone Beer into a handful of whisky & port barrels to age… After 12 months of soaking up the woody goodness, the team have pulled the corks on the barrels and filled a few sneaky kegs.
Dark and robust, barrel aging this full bodied beer has added smooth and velvety chocolate and vanilla notes to the roasted caramel aroma and cocoa flavour.
Along with some other Stone & Wood treats on tap, you’ll be able to enjoy these beers by the glass or as part of some specially curated boilermakers. Think Italian amaro’s, German digestifs, dry-hopped gins and top notch scotch all amazingly paired with these great beers.
