Our final stop – home to Byron Bay.
Who would have thought that the simple idea of going on tour to collect the ingredients for our Stone Beer could have led us down such a rewarding and memorable path…
As we tramped up and down the East coast a town at a time, we met so many amazing people who really care about the places they call home.
Some of them are just dipping their toes, some of them are already fully-fledged community warriors, and some of them are just happy hanging out with their friends. And that’s what it’s all about..
This year the Stone Beer has become something much more than just a throw-back to simpler times. It has turned into a journey, and a really positive experience for everyone involved. It gave us a way to get out of our comfort zone. We encouraged everyone to take off their ‘cool’ hats and we managed to collect and sort 736kgs of beach rubbish in the process. And with the beers sold during the tour, we raised money for Clean Coast Collective, Bay FM & Northern Rivers Community Fund.
At the end of it all we ended up back at home in Byron Bay, Stone Beers in hand, music in our ears and smiles on our faces. I think everyone who was there can agree, it was a special night, and one that will be remembered for a while to come.
The vid was filmed over 3 months across the East Coast of Australia by Pete from Cape Productions.
The words were spoken from the heart by our Designer, Jess.
The music composed by Angus Stone.
And the tour starred too many amazing people to mention.
You know who you are..
What is the Festival of the Stone Tour?
On our journey to collect the ingredients (think hops from Tassie, malt from Vicco and artists from the towns we stop in) for our Winter seasonal Stone Beer – we’ll be restoring the beaches to the condition they were in when things were slower and more simple – and have a couple of parties along the way..
The beautiful salt water people of Clean Coast Collective (CCC) will be coordinating the clean ups in each of the towns and are looking out for locals, community groups and those young and old who are keen to lend a hand and get involved (so grab a couple of friends, or your grommies, and join in!)
To say thanks to all the legends who help, we’ll be throwing an epic Clean Up After Party where all profits from the beer sales will go to back to CCC.
Our Landrover ‘Clyde’ will be stocked up and pouring cold, fresh beer; there will be pumping live music and awesome locally sourced food for everyone to enjoy and celebrate, ‘the way it should be.’

Our Adventure so far…
We kicked everything off down in Newcastle with a beach clean-up and launch party (which you can read about here). Sydney was our next stop, we cleaned, we partied and we continued our journey through to Tassie (watch the video below).
In Tassie, a few of our key crew checked-in with our Galaxy Hops farmers and collected some of the key ingredients for the Stone Brew. Read a recap blog of the Hops harvest in Tassie – or watch the vid below.
After we heard Wilko ring the bell in Torquay, we headed north, back to Byron, to throw a couple of hot rocks into the Stone Brew.
Have a look over our recap of the Bells to Byron leg of the journey.
We then bee-lined it up to Noosa through Brissy for a surf and another cleanup. Hear the story from a lad who experienced the whole day, Stone & Wood style.
We then tramped home to Byron Bay where the Festival of the Stone concludes with the 2016 Stone Beer on tap for all to enjoy!
