Whether it’s frantically updating his iconic website Crafty Pint and the interconnected web of social media platforms, or pulling together successful beer events such Good Beer Week, Craft Beer Rising and a raft of one off events, or pumping out ale soaked words in various publications, our good friend James Smith is fully immersed in the schooner that is the local beer scene.
If it’s happening in beer then he’s not only across it, but has usually crafted a fluent and expressive set of words to capture and amplify it.
His latest venture, a fantastic book called 150 Great Australian Beers is a beautifully put together snapshot of today’s Australian beer scene, and the beers that he feels are playing a part in it all.
With the beer scene in a state of continuous and rapid evolution it’s always great to have this moment in time captured in all it’s glory. It’s a bit like someone taking the time to step back late at night at a rollicking party and take a photo that truly captures the moment. A moment that would be lost in time as people were too busy and carried away by the occasion to remember it all.
If you are into your beer, and if you are reading this then you probably are, make sure you do yourself a favour and grab a copy, or start dropping hints to those who might be looking to buy you a special gift.
