Our GC Surfari Event
Sometimes in life it rains. Not just a little shower but a relentless deluge that soaks through the skin, dampening the soul… On Sunday, for our final Surfari event of the year, it rained so hard that when leaving the brewery in Byron the streets had turned into shallow streams. While the ‘glitter strip’ had survived being submerged, it was certainly wet enough to forgive the average person for giving up their arvo plans and retiring instead to the couch with a cup of tea…
You can only imagine then, how incredibly stoked and humbled we were to see the Gold Coast community raring and ready for beers when we opened the dripping wet gates for a night of music, surf films, good food, good beer and good vibes. Â
Kyle Lionhart drew everyone into the damp, warm shelter, serenading the crowd with his latest songs. As the clouds parted, the lads from Waxhead took to the outdoor container stage, rocking out in bare feet to people stomping in the mud and holding their beers high, swaying to the surfy beats.
Just like in Brissy, how many people call Pacific Ale, the Pac Ale, the order for the night was rounds of Cloudies(aka Cloud Catcher) which is now available year round in our local area.
Our mates JR’s Smokehouse, made sure everyone was fed, full and totally satisfied serving the good people the best slow cooked meat on the East Coast. For this event we partnered with ocean lovers Surfrider who helped up sort out waste and separate out the recycling to be taken off site and reused.
The legends who let us use their space topped off the night with some local fire twirlers putting on a show that made everyone forget work the next day and get another beer.
So thank you Gold Coast for not letting our souls be dampened by some droplets of water, we can’t wait to do it again!
