Our Backyard Invitational Gold Coast on Saturday 17 August blended everything we love about beer: a diverse range of tastings, quality independent beer from around the country, an opportunity to learn and – most importantly – community and collaboration.
Hosted at the Surfstitch Warehouse in Burleigh Waters, the event brought together friends and family together on a sun-drenched afternoon filled with independent beer tastings, food trucks, live music, and beer industry talks and masterclasses.
With winter temperatures of 26 degrees, 600-odd locals and visitors from around the Gold Coast passed through the gates to enjoy the diversity of craft beers and styles, plus absorb the knowledge from the industry’s best – including Brad Rogers (Stone & Wood/Forest for the Trees), Scotty Hargrave (Balter) and Paul Holgate (Holgate Brewhouse) at Luke Robertson’s (@aleofatime) masterclasses.
With so much brewing talent and passion in the room, it was awesome to see our crew and mates from the brewing community pouring alongside each other. With such a crowd, things were definitely busy, but looking around the room you could always spot a moment of connection between the vendors. Safe to say, we were all there for the love of beer and our industry.
An event in support of the local community, we and the inGrained Foundation are thrilled to have partnered with Orange Sky Gold Coast, a national charity that provides regular shower and laundry services free-of-charge to the homeless and disadvantaged. The inGrained Foundation will direct all the event’s profits to Orange Sky Gold Coast in the coming days, so watch this space for an update.
A huge beery ‘thank you’ to all our partnering breweries who were there on the day, and to everyone who attended and supported the second Backyard Invitational Gold Coast! You absolutely made the day a success and we look forward to connecting again!
The Backyard Invitational Gold Coast took place on Saturday 17 August at Burleigh Waters. Tickets were $60 and included entry, ALL BEERS, access to masterclasses, a take-home beer cup, $5 food truck voucher and donation to the inGrained Foundation toward Orange Sky Gold Coast.
