Shortly after we closed the doors to our Tasting Room and brewery in Byron Bay, things got a little … stir-crazy for manager and resident beer geek Jess.
To make up for the absence of happy visitors who usually take a guided tour and tasting around the brewery, Jess and our video-maker mate Pete grabbed a camera and made a virtual brewery tour for folks to soak up at home – with a beer, of course.
The three-part series covers everything you’d normally enjoy on a tour: the story behind Stone & Wood and the brewery; the brew decks and tanks; our team’s offices; the Pilot Batch brewery; beer-science fun facts – plus detailed overviews of the ingredients and processes that make delicious beer.
Thanks again for tuning in to our virtual brewery tour – and for continuing to support independent brewing. By buying indie beer from your local bottle shop or venue, you play a huge part in #KeepingLocalAlive.
In part one, Jess welcomes you to the Tasting Room and walks you through the drinking space, our team’s offices, the brewhouse, the brew deck and our Pilot Batch brewery. Now, grab a beer, settle in and enjoy the tour – and the bloopers.
Tasting Room manager Jess walks us through the ingredients of beer. That is, malt, water, hops and yeast, and how these are processed into delicious beer. This part of the tour is fairly educational, so we recommend popping open a fresh beer.
Now, we see how the hell we turn those ingredients into beer. Jess shows us step by step how exactly we turn water, malt, hops and yeast into beer. This part of the tour is all about process. Crack a beer and enjoy!
