Over the past 6 months, you have heard our excitement surrounding the Byron Bike Rack Project. With our little town attracting over 1.7 million visitors per year we wanted to encourage tourists and locals to ride instead of drive. To bring the community initiative to life, we teamed up with Byron Shire council, launched a design competition, and donated $20,000 to have the winning design created. We are stoked to announce that this week Happy Hoops bike racks have been installed throughout Byron town and are ready to support your 2 wheeled vehicles!
The journey started in 2016 when we first pitched the idea to council. From choosing installation locations, hand selecting the judging panel, reviewing the 23 talented designs, choosing a winner, and finally watching the bike racks come to life, we have loved every minute of the process.
We would like to shout out to the 23 creative entrants, talented panel of judges, Byron Shire Council, Miller Metal Imaging, and of course our winners Larc Collective and their local manufacturers for giving our town these fun, colourful and functional creations.
To celebrate the epic journey of the Byron Bike Rack Project and the installation of Happy Hoops, we’re holding a community bike ride this Saturday.
Jump on your bike and join us!
