Tasting Notes: Barrel Aged Old Ale

OLD ALE
Date brewed: October 2021.
Aged in: Starward Whisky Barrels.
General description: Old Ale is a strong, dark amber, malt driven beer that as the name suggests is aged in oak barrels for a long period of time to add distinct characteristics to the beer.
Hops description: a minimal amount of Australian Ella hops was used for bittering only, as this is a malt driven beer.
Malt description: we brewed with local pale malt and specialty malts Caramunich#2, Carapils and Cararoma from Weyerman in Bamberg Germany
Beer characteristics: hints of dried fruit, vanilla, Christmas cake and sherry. Old Ale has huge whisky and oak notes, with sweetness from the malt balanced with a big ABV of 8.6%.
Food pairing: Antipasto boards with cheese, fresh and dried fruits, and nuts.
