Our team is a mixed bunch of women and men who – while diverse in our experiences, tastes and personalities – share a similar set of values, particularly when it comes to collaboration. Together, we make a stronger and more resilient team.
In line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, we believe that an equal world is an enabled world.
For us, this starts with celebrating the awesome work and achievements of all women everywhere on International Women’s Day, while also acknowledging the need for ongoing community action and connection to ensure opportunities for women are plenty and ongoing, alongside their male counterparts’.
We believe that gender equality is not a women’s issue; it’s a concern for everyone. After all, we know that societies with higher rates of gender equality are happier and that gender equality is great for the economy. But we cannot achieve a more equal world for women and girls without help from men and boys.
This year’s theme, according to the International Women’s Day organisation, ties into the notion of collective individualism: recognising that we are “all parts of a whole” whose “individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society”.
We’re proud to be able to promote this concept within our team and company culture; acknowledging the experiences and perspectives that our co-workers bring to the table every day.
To celebrate this International Women’s Day, on Friday 14 February, several women in our team arrived at our Byron brewery bright and early to brew a commemorative beer: Mango Lasses, a vegan mango sour that we’ll tap at our Brisbane brewery on Friday 6 March and our Byron Tasting Room on Sunday 8 March, International Women’s Day.
All profits from Mango Lasses purchased at our breweries will be directed to Northern Rivers not-for-profit SHIFT Project, an organisation that supports women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Last year, their SHIFT Linen social enterprise was a recipients of our inGrained Foundation’s Northern Rivers Large Grants Program.
A big shout-out to our resident Byron brewer Tina Jarrett, who led the brew charge and guided the non-brewers through the process!
We look forward to sharing a Mango Lasses with our community on International Women’s Day at our Tasting Room – cheers!
